2005 Pinot Noir Le Belier 91
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine
Volume 31 Issue 12: October 2007
.
In this set of initial offerings, real promise is shown, and this one is the best balanced of the bunch. Its ripe red cherry fruit aromas carry the brushy, dried herb notes often found in wines produced from Santa Barbara grapes, and the wine shows plenty to enjoy in its deep cherryish flavors and supple, near velvety texture and pleasantly rich finish.

Significantly riper than Demetria's Le Belier bottling and reaching for the limits of excess, this wine holds back just enough to allow its concentrated black cherry fruit to remain nicely in focus. That said, there is an unmistakable syrupy quality to its fruit and a bit of ending hotness, both of which render the wine a touch less interesting than its mate.
